Over the past few months, I’ve been tapping back into my creative energy through crafting. It’s delightful to make stuff again, and to be back in the spirit of learning and creating rather than consuming. As the holidays approach, here are some projects and ideas that I am making to decorate my house and to give as gifts to loved ones (or to keep and wear myself!!)
- This cute knitted sweater, which may be my first foray into sweaters?? I need to move on from rectangles, aka. scarves.

2. A homemade stocking set for my Christmas decor. I’ve been following the Rooney pattern from Etsy, along with this YouTube video. I chose a Christmas plaid and quilted it, and I am making a striped set for my sister and her husband using some thrifted fabric.

3. Embroidered stocking cuffs. I personalized our stocking cuffs using a chain stitch embroidery by tracing my handwriting of our names since I wanted something special for our first Christmas married. ♡

4. These hand-sewn beaded felt ornaments that will look so lovely on our tree.

5. And these hand sewn gingerbread house ornaments! Same simple hand-sewing concept as above and so so cute. Definitely gonna make a couple of these for the tree or a garland this year.

6. And one last sewn felt ornament DIY for our dog Remy! I have to make him this cute diy hand-sewn and embroidered stuffed-felt ornament so that he has a place on the tree.

7. This simple ribbed scarf pattern, similar to what I am currently making in a ribbed tan wool. It would be a great intro to knitting project for the holidays if you’re looking to pick up a new skill/hobby, or if you want to try making a gift for a loved one. Ideally, mine will be done in time for our upcoming trip to Tokyo!

8. Another aspirational knit project that I plan to complete once that scarf is cast off, is this hooded scarf/bonnet combo by NOMAD knits. I recently purchased the pattern and think this would look so sweet in a navy blue or red, or even an olive green wool. It will be my first time knitting based on a pattern, and I’ve just started using circular needles so I am excited to try this one out. Again, a ribbed knit, so hopefully not too complex, but very versatile and such a cozy craft for the winter!

9. This cute crochet bow garland for my home. I have never tried crocheting but I picked up a beginner DIY kit from Michaels for a knit crochet garland as the entry-level project that I need to enter into the world of crochet! I also just bought the Hot Girl Crochet book (it’s on sale!) so that I can learn how to make garments, totes, and pillow covers.

10. This cute two-toned scarf would be such a sweet gift!! As I move up into more delicate materials for knitting, this would be a fun project to take on. Here is the pattern that this project is based on.

Happy holidays and happy crafting! I’d love to see what you end up making, so tag me @bybethanyjoy on instagram and TikTok so I can see your crafts!
