24 Ins and Outs for 2024

I used to be a New Years resolution type of person, but often I found that the resolution was centered more around an attribute or physical trait I wanted to change, than my lifestyle as a whole. It’s hard to write a resolution that is all-encompassing of the person you strive to be, while also accepting yourself for all that you are, the good and the bad and the growing.

That’s why, in reflecting on 2023 and thinking about the habits I have that I want to build and break, I have created a list of 24 ins and 24 outs that I strive to live by in 2024. As less regimented guidelines for myself and my aspirations, ins and outs serve as bumpers for how I want to be. These are centered less around becoming the “perfect person” or “being that girl” but rather around holistically living and loving the version of myself that I am now, while striving for growth and always trying to be better.

In:

  • Healing my gut
  • Positive self-talk, self-image, and self-compassion
  • Budgeting regularly and auditing my finance decisions
  • Using a physical planner
  • Cooking nutritious meals as a form of self love
  • Saying no to things that do not serve me even if I used to do them a lot
  • Eating breakfast and green smoothies daily
  • Supplementing my diet (Vitamin D, B-12 complex, fiber, etc.)
  • Curated personal style
  • Allowing myself to embrace my multi-dimensionality (no niching down)
  • Low impact movement and wellness (yoga, sauna, spin, pilates)
  • Scrapbooking, crafting, coloring, and sewing
  • Long form content (Podcasts, YouTube) and Pinterest Boards
  • Buying vintage and second hand and thrifting
  • Going outside daily, even for a little sunshine
  • Using the products and clothes that I already own
  • Clear communication about needs and desires
  • Regular facials and massages
  • Eating the rainbow and adding more fermented foods to my diet
  • Journaling regularly and without judgement
  • Doing my physical therapy and regular stretching
  • Continuously tracking my habits and goals
  • Logging my medications, chronic pain, and moods
  • Reading before bed

Out:

  • Overconsumption or buying because its on sale
  • Doom-scrolling short form media
  • Comparison to people online (or in person)
  • Rushed mornings and overstretched evenings
  • Keeping clothes that “I might wear again someday”
  • Leaving laundry or dishes overnight
  • Trying to “fit back into clothing”
  • Door-dashing food all the time
  • Thinking I have to have “an aesthetic”
  • Thinking too far into the future
  • Unread email inbox
  • Trying to fit a consumerism mold that was not made for me or my body
  • Convenience food / snacks that don’t have nutritional value
  • Craving sugar constantly at night
  • Sale emails and texts from brands that get me to browse
  • Fast fashion and chasing trends
  • Overthinking something I want to share or post
  • Social media first thing in the morning or last thing at night
  • Poorly made / poor quality clothing
  • Overusing my credit cards because “I’ll get points”
  • Collaborations with brands that don’t fit my business goals
  • Having debt
  • Running, HIIT, and high impact workouts
  • The words “I can’t”

I hope my list inspires you to consider what your ins and outs are for this year and this season of your life.
